Including all of us here at Heritage Oak Winery! And Tom has made sure the Big Top arrives in a big way with his 2015 Carnival. Now, Carnival is an old name here at Heritage Oak. A few years back, Tom produced a Carnival that he claims was a hodgepodge – a little bit of this and a little bit of that. I wasn’t around during those times, but I understand it was a hit and people still talk about it. And I double dog guarantee you that the 2015 Carnival will be a hit too! Of this one, Tom says it is still a hodgepodge – just a more organized hodgepodge.
What a fun wine this is! A fanciful red blend of Estate Grown Rhone grapes – Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre and Cinsaut – this wine delivers from the first sip through layer after layer of deliciousness, to a long tapering finish. In the glass it portrays a uniform, soft, medium-red color giving off an herbaceous aroma. Your palate is greeted by the candied fruit, raspberry and cinnamon spice of Grenache, followed by the darker fruits of the Syrah, the deep richness of Mourvedre and soft strawberry notes of Cinsaut. Tom aged this wine for 18 months in neutral oak barrels to allow all those wonderful fruit flavors to shine. This wine is plush and opulent, full of mid-palate fruit, balanced with subtle tannins for a perfect mouthfeel that tapers slowly away to deliciousness.
We are so excited about this wine and anxiously await its release date, which will be very soon. And Tom is so giddy about its release that he is discounting each bottle during the opening weekend. Click here, http://heritageoakwinery.com/events/, or on our Facebook page for more details. And while all that is great news, the really great news is this wine itself. Be sure to drop by the tasting room and climb under the Big Top for a taste of Tom’s 2015 Carnival – there is plenty of room for everyone. Come enjoy this wine, enjoy the moment while the Big Top is in town (and that shouldn’t be too long as only 125 cases were produced).
