Check here on a routine basis (maybe about once a week) for current news from the Corporate Office:
October 15, 2017
Crush is just about done. One more picking to go. And, as usual, it has been a lot of work but certainly worth the effort. So far Tom has created 25 different wines this year. Gives us lots to look forward to in 2018 and beyond. And with crush just about done we can back to doing other fun things here at Heritage Oak Winery. Concerts will start up again in November and then it will be the holidays before you know it.
September 21 2017.
Rumors are flying around the Corporate Office these days. The good rumors are that Block 5 Zinfandel is making a comeback, at least for the 2017 vintage. Now this is just a rumor and anything could happen but it all looks promising. The bad rumor is we will have to wait for a couple of years before we will know for sure. So all you Block 5 Zinfandel fanatics will just have to wait, don’t storm the gates just yet.
September 14 2017.
This coming Saturday, September 16th, we will hosting a HARVEST TOUR, at 11:00 a.m. We’ll take a quick trip out into the vineyard to learn what Tom looks for from the grapes just before harvest. Then we will visit the crush pad to see and taste grapes turning into wine. You can try your hand at a punch down. Then into the winery for the final product. It will be fun and educational. Come learn why Tom pulls his hair out each fall.
As predicted the Sangiovese has sold out.
September 9, 2017.
I should have also dropped everyone a note that in addition to the 2013 Sangiovese being almost gone so is the 2014 Italian Blend almost gone. As of late yesterday we have less than 4 cases left. And there is currently none in the barrel so this very delicious and popular wine is going to disappear for awhile. If your a fan of the Italian Blend plan on dropping by soon as this one will soon be gone.
September 7, 2017.
Attention all you 2013 Sangiovese fans….we are about sold out of this wine with its fruity cheery cherry notes and that wonderfully long finish. It will be gone, gone, gone before you know it. So if this is one of your favs I suggest stocking up!
August 12, 2017.
A couple of quick notes today. As of this morning we are down to only 1 bottle of the 2012 Old Vine Carignane (vines planted in 1909) and 2 bottles of the 2013 Tempranillo. Both yummy, so if these are among your favs come and get ’em before we say goodbye.
The September 2017 Wine Club Recommendations are out and available for pickup at your convenience. This quarter they are the 2014 ZINHEAD (ever popular) and the 2014 Malbec. And as bonuses we recommend the 2012 French Blend or the 2014 Barbera. Or, as I am sure you know, you can pick any of our fines from our long line up as your quarterly selection.
Don’t forget about the 30% rule. If you like the Wine Club Recommendations through the end of September you can pick up additional bottles after your initial pickup for 30% off. A heck of a deal.
The Wine Club pickup party is on August 26th. Put it on your calendar. Check your email for details. I’m stoked, Bib Booty Bob is playing.
July 23, 2017.
Just a heads up for ya’ all to save the dates of August 5th and 6th. It is going to be a busy and fun weekend here at Heritage Oak Winery.
On Saturday the 5th we will have our Summer Concert. Stephanie D and her trio will be providing danceable music from 1 pm to 4ish pm.
And as an added bonus on the 5th local artist Jacqueline Stone will be showing her art on the patio area.
Also this weekend, on both Saturday and Sunday, we will be once again featuring barrel tasting and future wine sales of select 2015 red wines, including Tom’s 2015 Zinjo and Grenache and the 2016 vintages of Zinfidelity and Vino Tinto. May 19, 2017.
Hey!, it is ZINFEST weekend. Fun, festivities and wine by the lake. Always a good time. If you are not going to the lake on Saturday to say hello to Tom and Carmela then stop by the winery. Hailey and I will be here serving up tastes of Tom’s wonderful wines. Have you come by to taste Tom’s new red wine blends? You should. Also ZINFEST is more than just Saturday at the lake. Marty Cohen and the Sidekicks will be in concert here at Heritage Oak Winery on Sunday from 1 pm to 4 pm. And if you can’t get by to see us, Marty and his Sidekicks then do just get out and visit one of Lodi’s other great wineries. Most will have festivities on Sunday. ZINFEST is just a fun weekend, so get out and enjoy Lodi wineries and wines.
February 25, 2017.
It has been a long hard winter, in case you haven’t noticed. But I’m getting the sense that spring will be upon us soon. In fact the leaves and flowers on the patio and the picnic area here at Heritage Oak Winery are just beginning to blossom and leaf out. It is going to be a beautiful spring. Come on out with your picnic basket and enjoy all the beauty that Carmela has created.
February 9, 2017.

Things kick off Saturday, February 11th at 11:00 a.m. and run till 4:00 p.m. The same schedule applies on Sunday, that being 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This is an area wide event and we here at Heritage Oak Winery will be joining in the festivities with wine tasting, chocolate goodies and music both days. We will also be OPEN ON SUNDAY FEBRUARY 5th starting at 11:00 AM and at least until the game starts. After that…well, you take your chances but I’m pretty sure Tom will be around.
January 15, 2017.
Were you able to come by to enjoy Big Booty Bob yesterday? What’dya think of his rendition of “Paint it Black”? Smokin’!
January 7, 2017.
Hey everyone, welcome to the new year. We hope you had a fun filled and safe holiday season.
Winter has settled in around Lodi of late (just in case you didn’t notice). But that does not mean things have slowed down here at the winery. Tom has started racking the 2016 wines and so far things are looking, and tasting, good.
I want to remind everyone that next Saturday we will be holding our Anniversary Celebration (Tom opened up for business 10 years ago in December 2007). Pack a picnic and come on out, rain or shine. Big Booty Bob will be playing throughout the afternoon for all of our enjoyment. It is hard to tell but it looks like the torrential rain we are expecting over the upcoming week will let up by next Saturday to partly cloudy. Either way, under the canopy out back it will be dry and fun. Check our Events page for more details.
December 29, 2016.
Well we have made it halfway through the holiday season. We just have to make it to midnight Saturday night and we flip to calendar to 2017. The start of a new year and all that that will bring. If you can’t make it by the tasting room between now and Saturday we wish you a fun filled New Year’s Eve. Be safe, be smart and come see us in 2017.
December 24, 2016.
Hi Everyone. Christmas is upon us and all of us here at Heritage Oak Winery; Carmela, Tom, Hailey and myself, want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas. We hope your day is filled with love, joy, family and friends, and lots of laughter.
December 17, 2016.
Did you know that Carmela and Tom opened Heritage Oak Winery nine years ago in December 2007? When we finish up this month and flip the calendar to January 2017 we will be starting our 10th year. Just think….a decade of good times, good wines, good music, Tom’s piano music, Carmela’s artistic touch to the winery, patio and all the great wine club pick up parties. We are going to kick off the start of our 10th year with a Anniversary Celebration on January 14th with Big Booty Bob playing out on the crush pad. The notes say he will be “Un-Plugged” (I could make all kinds of snarky comments on that one but will refrain). Plan to come on by to join in the fun rain or shine. And I’ve heard rumors trickling down from the Corporate Office that there will be a further Anniversary Celebration later in the year. Stay tuned for details.
December 9, 2016.
Just a quick reminder that tomorrow, Saturday, December 10th, is the annual Heritage Oak Christmas Boutique. Many vendors will be here from 11:00 a.m. to 4 ish p.m. showing off their hand crafted gift items. Some vendors have already come by today to start on their preliminary set up! June Diggle will be adding to the holiday spirit by playing holiday tunes and GGs Pizza will be here featuring their yummy pizzas. All the vendors will be under the canopy over the crush pad so we will be in full swing come rain or shine. So even if the weather outside is frightful the mood will be delightful and the afternoon promises to be a whole lotta fun. Come on over.
November 29, 2016.
Don’t forget that this coming Saturday is our Winter Quarter (December, January and February…..Brrr! cold) Wine Club Pick Up party. Check your emails for details from Tom on the Winter Quarter Recommendations; 2014 Zinjo, 2014 Grenache, and as an alternate the 2014 Cab/Syrah. Food, wine and music will be available for wine club members. The hot band, Swing Shift, will be providing music from 1 pm to 4 pm. Carmelita will be serving yummy soup and bread for wine club members. Non members are invited to bring a picnic and enjoy the festivities. Hailey and I will kick open the doors at 11 am and hang around until 5 pm. The early weather reports look great for Saturday so plan on coming by for a fun filled afternoon. Wine club members, if you can make it please RSVP to Tom so we have an accurate head count for soup and bread. See ya all Saturday.
November 20, 2016.
We will be closed this year on Thanksgiving Day. So plan to stop by earlier in the week to pick up your Turkey Day dinner wine. My suggestions, and personal favorites to grace my table, are the new 2014 Zinjo, the new 2014 Grenache, and the 2012 Old Vine Carignane. All are available and ready to enjoy.
We will reopen on Black Friday at noon and on Saturday and Sunday at 11:00 a.m. Throughout the weekend we will have a Black Friday White sale, along with Carignane and Syrah. So come on by to take advantage of this special pricing. The whites will be $10/bottle and the Carignane and Syrah will be $15/bottle.
November 13, 2016.
I can’t believe it, but it is true, with all the good news from last week I neglected to let you all know that Tom has released our 2014 Block 14 Zinfandel. 100% estate grown Zinfandel, aged in neutral barrels to focus on the wonderful Zinfandel fruit, just the way we like it. This is one of my favorite Heritage Oak wines and the 2014 is right up there in taste, balance and quality as the previous vintages. Come on by for a taste.
The Giro D’ Vino (winery bicycle tour) rolled through Heritage Oak Winery early this morning. The place was packed with adventurous cyclers eager for a taste. The tasting room was packed, loud and uproarious for about an hour and a half, cyclers were 4 to 5 deep at the tasting bar. And then, just like that, they were gone, onto the next watering hole (I mean winery) and the tasting room was quiet. Hailey, Tom and I suddenly looked at each other with a “What was that” expression on our faces. Fun and crazy!
